Interdependence as Self-Care: Embracing Our Connections for Wellness
Challenging the Myth of Solo Success
We live in a world that often encourages us to strive for independence and conquer challenges alone. We are asked to tough it out, exhibit personal strength and become “better” at every step. But the truth is, we are interconnected, interdependent beings. We rely on each other, the earth, and the natural world for our well-being. We were never meant to go it alone.
The Healing Power of Plant Medicine
Still, it can be challenging for me to ask for help. Do you relate? As a form of self-care this month (last month, I talked about movement as self-care), I am focused on accepting interdependence. I have no problem giving – I am a mom, a wife and a therapist; however, receiving is equally important. I am sharing one of my favorite ways of practicing this concept.
Incorporating plant medicine into my everyday wellness has been a profound experience. I enjoy the simplicity of herbal remedies that heal my mind while sipping my morning coffee, a ritual that brings me a sense of peace and grounding.
It’s not about a quick fix or getting high. It’s about accepting nature’s support and recognizing that healing can come from unexpected sources. There is neuroscience to back this. Just as we rely on the earth to feed our bodies, we can also turn to plant medicine to help heal our minds.
Cultivating Interdependence and a Community of Care
I encourage you to embrace the concept of interdependence. It’s about finding what works for you and what supports you on the path toward wholeness. Recognize that you are not alone but part of a larger ecosystem. Explore the potential of plant medicine, but always with the utmost respect and intention, ensuring a responsible and safe experience*.
Healing is a journey, not a destination. This year, we are taking a deep dive into self-care strategies. I’ll help you find what you need to feel more comfortable in your everyday life. Sign up for my monthly email newsletter to learn more.
